Example 1 (Harassment):
Ontario's Bill 168 has amended the Occupational Health and Safety Amendment Act with respect to violence and harassment in the workplace and other matters. Since 2009, all employers have to create a written policy to prevent Violence and Harassment in the Workplace:
- According to Bill 168, any employer, with five employees and more, shall prepare a policy with respect to workplace violence and a policy with respect to workplace harassment. The legislation requires that these policies must be reviewed, at least, every year.

Example 2 (Health and Safety):
The penalties for failing to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety go from $25,000 and/or up to a year's imprisonment. And corporations can be fined up to $500,000.
In 2012, in Guelph, Ontario, a car manufacturer had to pay a penalty because it failed to comply with its responsibilities. In fact, a worker suffered serious electric shocks and burns in the workplace. The penalty? $150,000.00 + 25% of this amount to be paid to the victim.
